Communication

Families,

Strong schools run on communication. Learning improves when students speak up early and clearly. Support works best when adults know what students need.
We teach students to advocate for themselves.
Academically. Personally. Every day.
Advocacy looks like this.
• Asking for help when learning feels hard.
• Letting a teacher know when directions feel unclear.
• Sharing when something outside of school affects focus.
• Speaking up with respect and honesty.
Students who communicate grow faster. Research shows students who self advocate build stronger problem solving skills and higher confidence over time. Those skills matter in middle school and beyond.
We also rely on partnership with families.
Reach out when questions come up.
Share concerns early.
Let us know when something changes at home or school.
Our staff wants to support every learner. We respond best when we understand the full picture. Communication helps us adjust instruction, provide SEL support, and respond with care.
Please encourage your student to speak up.
Please reach out to us when needed.
Together we support growth, confidence, and success.
Thank you for staying connected with our school community.

Best regards,
Manuel Montano
Principal, Lochbuie Intermediate Academy

Importance of Attendance

Attendance builds learning momentum. Students present every day read more. Write more. Solve more math problems. Repetition builds skill. Feedback improves accuracy.
February attendance sits at 93.4 percent at Lochbuie Intermediate Academy so far. Sixth grade now leads the way at 95 percent. Families show commitment. Classrooms stay focused. Learning stays consistent. Keep the momentum strong through the rest of the semester.
Students who attend daily are more likely to
• Meet grade level expectations.
• Develop strong learning routines.
• Stay engaged with peers and teachers.
• Enter middle school prepared for higher demands.
Missing ten percent of the year leads to chronic absence. Two days each month adds up fast. Gaps in reading and math appear early. By upper grades those gaps widen and engagement drops.
Daily attendance builds responsibility. On time arrival protects learning minutes. Ten minutes late each day adds up to more than 30 hours of missed instruction.
School hours run from 7:55 AM to 3:00 PM. Supervision and breakfast begin at 7:30 AM. Your support helps your student arrive ready to learn and stay on track.
