We have reached the end of the first quarter, and our students and staff have set a strong foundation for the year. Classrooms are focused, routines are established, and students are showing growth in every grade level. Teachers continue using Gradient lessons to connect daily instruction to clear learning targets, and students are engaging through reading, thinking, talking, and writing every day.

As we move into Quarter 2, we want to keep this positive momentum going. You can help by ensuring your student arrives on time each day and is ready to learn. Review ParentSquare updates regularly, set aside time for daily reading, and ask your child to explain what they learned in class. These small steps make a big difference in maintaining academic growth.

Quarter 2 will focus on strengthening writing skills in all subjects and deepening math understanding through feedback and practice. Teachers will continue using small groups to meet student needs and offer enrichment opportunities for those ready for more challenge.

Attendance and punctuality remain critical. Students who are present and on time have the greatest opportunity to learn and succeed.

Please note there will be no school on Monday, October 20. Classes resume Tuesday, October 21, marking the start of Quarter 2.

Attendance drives achievement. Missing school means missing instruction. Students fall behind in reading, writing, and math. Each day out of class is a lost chance to practice and get feedback.

Students who attend regularly are more likely to:

Missing 10 percent or more of the school year, about two days each month, is chronic absence. Students who miss that much often score lower in reading and math by third grade and struggle to stay engaged by middle school.

Being present builds routine, connection, and responsibility. Attendance is the foundation of success.

Lochbuie Intermediate Academy school hours are 7:55 AM to 3:00 PM, with supervision and breakfast beginning at 7:30 AM. Please help your student arrive on time and prepared to start the day. Even being 10 minutes late each day adds up to over 30 hours of lost learning time each year. Your support makes a direct difference in your child’s growth.

Thank you to those students who sold items from our catalog fundraiser. You all did amazing! Items should be there before Thanksgiving break so please be on the lookout for more information. 

Trunk or Treat is next Friday the 24. We hope you can all join us. We have lots of fun things planned. There will be games and a bake sale. This bake sale is to help support student council at Lochbuie Intermediate Academy. Please bring cash. Community members have offered to bake some wonderful items for you to enjoy. 

Freddy’s Frozen Steakburger dinner fundraiser is coming up. Hope to see you there.
