FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents and Friends,

As the new principal of Lochbuie Elementary School, it is my sincerely pleasure and honor to become a member of this great school community.  Lochbuie has long been a collaborative school focused on academic achievement and personal growth that is a result of a collegial partnership between the school staff and parents who provide positive experiences for all students.  During my first weeks in the district, I have found the Weld County Re3j School District to be collaborative and focused on what is best for all children.

Before coming to the Weld County Re3j School District, my professional educational career began in the Adams 12 School District.  I began my teaching career teaching 2nd grade at Thornton Elementary for seven years.  I then went on to teach 3rd grade for three years at Thornton.  It was here that I first realized the impact an educator can have on the lives of their students.  After leaving Thornton Elementary as a teacher, I continued in Adams 12 and began my career in administration at Mountain View Elementary where I was the assistant principal for the past four years.  During my time at Mountain View, I also realized the importance of positive leadership in the educational environment.  Although my former school district was very large in comparison to Weld County, what I find comparable is the child centered approach to education that results in an excellent school program.  I am excited to be a part of the Lochbuie family and to closely work with everyone to make our school even better.

My greatest initiative is to continue to provide the leadership that will facilitate a school environment that will work collaboratively to meet the needs of all students to the best of our ability.  The educational program must be academically challenging and actively engage students by connecting prior knowledge to the curriculum through cooperative learning strategies that will best prepare them for the 21st century.   Parents, teachers, support staff, and administration will all have to work together in a collaborative effort to ensure success for all students in these challenging times.

I believe the foundation of our future accomplishments will be found in the power of our combined efforts. I look forward to working with you all.

Sincerely,

Heath Wilson, Principal
